Many customers have raved about their experiences at LOQUAT. Yagmur Toraman describes it as “a charming bakery with a stunning selection of cakes, sweets, and savory items.” The warmth of the service shines through, as noted by Jimmy Tobin, who appreciated the friendly staff and the trendy ambiance flavored by free jazz music. This welcoming atmosphere is complemented by superb customer experiences, with many praising the flaky pastries and the flavorful Kouign-Amann and babka.

However, while LOQUAT shines in many areas, a few patrons have noted that the menu hasn't changed significantly over the past months. Anna C. remarked that although the cakes are always outstanding, regulars might be looking for more diverse options. That said, many agree that the quality and presentation of the offerings make each visit feel special and well worth it.

A charming bakery with a stunning selection of cakes, sweets, and savory items. The interior is uniquely designed and incredibly cute, with beautiful ceramics used for serving—every plate and cup feels thoughtfully chosen and adds to the experience. We opted for the mushroom boureka as a savory treat. The pastry was perfectly flaky and light, and the filling was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. That said, I couldn’t take my eyes off the rest of the baked goods and cakes—they all looked irresistible. We also had an espresso and a mint tea, which was served with fresh mint leaves—both refreshing and comforting. A lovely touch: drinks come with a piece of halva, offering the perfect bite of sweetness to enjoy alongside your beverage. If you're visiting San Francisco, this bakery is definitely worth a stop. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger, and everything from the food to the ambiance is crafted with care. Highly recommended!

Service was great. Everyone was nice to talk to and friendly. The pastries and cakes are also very good. We tried the spelt olive oil cake and babka. They only have one savory dish that can be prepared in various ways. It would be nice if there were more options. We got the platter and the pickles were amazing. The atmosphere was very trendy with loud free jazz and hiatus kaiyote. There are also no high chairs.

Update: Visited again recently and tried a meringue cookie and pistachio tea cake. Everything was outstanding as usual, though I did notice the menu hadn’t changed much from several months ago (cakes were mostly the same). Continues to be a great place to stop for a sweet treat, though regulars may get tired of the menu. ——————- Absolutely worth a visit! I tried the salted chocolate babka and one of their seasonal savory turnovers (bourekas), which on this day was a squash and cheese variety dusted in za’atar. I got a seasonal special red bean sesame babka to go! The babka melted in the mouth and wasn’t too sweet with the salt coming through subtly. The warm boureka though was next-level with a laminated dough that was crisp and then practically melted in the mouth. I will be back to try their cakes and prepared plates!

loved the details of the store and the food! the cutley cups and plates are so design-y and compliment well with the plants. the boureka sandwich and pastry were buttery and airy, perfectly sized too. definitely on the expensive end for a casual breakfast but the experience was good.

This place was so nice. The coffee was delicious and I tried their Mahlab Cake, which was very fluffy and moist. though all the pastries look so good! The only thing is that is a little corner and seating is not so easy. Yeah this year is very nice and people so nice!

Obsessed with this place. Decor is so cute and trendy, the chocolate babka is delicious and so was the coffee. You definitely should have your coffee and pastries to stay. Comes on the most beautiful ceramics. They also sell it in-store.

Wow…just wow. Several of my friends recommended that I try out Loquat when I moved to San Francisco, and I can absolutely see why — it fully lives up to the hype with its outstanding pastries, great coffee, and amazing vibes. The pastries, to quote a French friend, “rival the ones available in Paris,” although I’m not sure what she’s comparing them to given everything is Mediterranean inspired. For a savory treat, I adore their feta and eggplant boureka, which has a remarkably rich and flavorful filling encased in a buttery, flakey shell. It’s topped with a very generous helping of poppy seeds, so be prepared to have seeds in your teeth for the rest of the day, but it’s 100% worth it. They have tons of amazing sweet treats, ranging from croissants to cakes, but their classic is the salted chocolate babka muffin. It is literally to die for — the bread is perfectly flaky, with just the right amount of butter to make it rich but not overwhelming. The dark chocolate is wonderful and not overly sweet, but any sugar is balanced out by the salt. Genuinely the only thing wrong with this is that I can’t have it every single day. Beyond the classics, they also have a rotating set of seasonal items that are all wonderful. I overheard a server chatting with the table next to mine and describing a seasonal dish featuring a summer Italian hot pepper. She got the brunch version of the dish with full peppers, eggs, and bread, but they also have a pastry-fied version in the form of a boureka. Literally everything is outstanding, and I cannot wait to make my way back here!
